Best Bachelorette Party Destinations in the World: Hen Night Ideas!

First of all, congratulations on your engagement!! Now it’s time to get ready for the biggest event of your life – YOUR BACHELORETTE PARTY!! Also known as a hen do, doe party, stagette, or even kitchen tea, typically someone’s bachelorette party involves the bride hanging out with their closest compadres to celebrate the upcoming nuptials. But, for all the brides that love travel, why not have that celebration somewhere abroad? With so many incredible countries and cities around the world, choosing just one can be a daunting task. But fret not, I’ve rounded up the absolute best bachelorette party destinations for you!

All you have to do is say yes to one.

North America

There are of course the big three, (Canada, USA, Mexico), but I’m also including the Caribbean and Central America too! However, I am specifically excluding cities in the United States of America because…well, I already have a ton of USA getaway ideas! Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Playa del Carmen, Mexico is one of the best bachelorette party destinations, especially for first-time travelers! Its close proximity to the US makes it an easy getaway for an extended beach vacation or long weekend stay. You’ll find amazing beaches, adventure tours and activities, and vibrant nightlife, all while getting to experience the fun and colorful Mexican culture.

For a bachelorette party, stay at Thompson Playa del Carmen, which is located right in the middle of the downtown area and has an amazing rooftop pool known for its daytime pool parties. During the day, you can relax at a beach club, go on a snorkeling tour, visit ancient Mayan ruins, or shop on the lively Fifth Avenue.

At night, you’ll definitely want to check out 12th Street, which is where all the clubs, bars, and nightlife are located. For a chic rooftop experience, head to Clandestino or Cero Uno, which are known for their famous DJs and house music.

Montreal, Canada

Montreal is one of the best bachelorette party destinations! The city is the perfect mix of fun, sophisticated, and wild – a little bit of everything for any bride!

However, if you have to choose one theme or overall vibe, Montreal offers the most options for a sophisticated atmosphere. You can enjoy shopping in the city’s famous vintage shops and schedule a group massage at the Bota Bota Spa, built right in the St. Lawrence River. Plus, nothing gets more elegant than Montreal’s famous French-Quebecqois culture and architecture.

There are fabulous museums, chic cafes, and hip street art to enjoy, as well as fun nightlife. At some point in the afternoon, make your way over to Che Alexandre, a boisterous Parisian brasserie complete with a bar and even a cigar lounge! If you can’t make it to Paris for your bachelorette, this is the next best thing!

Other can’t-miss spots in Montreal include the Notre Dame cathedral, Vieux Montreal, and Montreal’s Chinatown. And don’t leave town before you’ve tried some poutine. There are tons of charming hotels in Montreal, but Le Mont Stephen is the perfect combination of beautiful and fancy. Playa Negra, Costa Rica

Playa Negra is in the northwestern province of Guanacaste, and is a very laid-back beach town with an incredible array of activities that will suit any type of bride-to-be.

First, you have your beach days.  Sun, sand, and as many drinks inside of coconuts that you can handle. Everything from yoga on the beach (in a wooden beach hut!) to massages and mani/pedi services are readily available. Some even travel to your hotel to perform their services.

Also, there are plenty of more adventurous activities once you’ve had your fill of relaxation.  You can join in on everything from surfing lessons to zip-lining to stand up paddleboarding and horseback riding.  

Playa Negra is one of the best bachelorette party destinations to celebrate your engagement. With such a perfect mix of options, you really can’t go wrong.  And whatever you choose, you’ll be in an unbelievably gorgeous setting while doing it!

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Montego Bay, Jamaica is a city that’s suitable for any type of traveler, which makes it a great destination for a group trip such as a bachelorette party trip. As the tourist hub of Jamaica, the city offers an array of options in terms of accommodations, activities, and experiences. Even if you stay at an all-inclusive hotel, you should still try to venture outside the hotel. There you’ll find options from rafting on the Martha Brae River to buzzing nightlife.

You and your squad can also opt for a relaxing spa day or a day lounging at a beach. Jamaica’s north coast has some of its best beaches, and Montego Bay is no exception. A good example is the Doctor’s Cave Beach where you can relax on the beach with a drink in hand and when you’re ready, you can swim out to one of the trampolines with your gals.

Finally, because of Jamaica’s size, a day trip to other parts of the island is a great option. Book a driver to take you east to Ocho Rios, another popular tourist town and home to many great beaches. Then head south to visit Lover’s Leap and Floyd’s Pelican Bar, a bar in the sea, to have a good time and see an epic sunset.

South America

All of the beautiful scenic landscapes of North America…but magnified by like a thousand. You can find adventure behind every corner, and maybe pick up a few dance moves while you’re at it!

Cartagena, Colombia

The colorful city of Cartagena is one of the best bachelorette party destinations if you’re looking for strong drinks and even stronger coffee. For a central location, stay at the Amarla Boutique Hotel, woman-owned and operated! There are seven uniquely decorated rooms, so depending on your party, you might even rent out the whole place! (It also makes for a beautiful intimate wedding retreat hint hint)

While the hotel hosts its own champeta, salsa, and cooking classes, they can also organize a city tour for your group, leaving you and the gang time to relax and unwind! When you’re ready to hit the water, visit Isla Rosario and explore the lagoon by kayak. At night, the mangroves light up with bioluminescent plankton. And after, head back to the city to dance the night away.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Home to one of the seven wonders of the world (Christ the Redeemer), your Bachelorette crew can grab drinks at incredibly scenic bars. Rio de Janeiro is world-renown for its parties and nightlife, so if you’re REALLY ready to throw down, visit during Carnival.

Any other time is also great though, as the weather is desirable year-round. Your group will love learning Samba and browsing the city’s chic boutiques. Or if you’re more into hiking, you can try your hand at scaling Sugarloaf Mountain. But also there’s also a cable car that will take you to the top as well.

In your downtime, aka whenever you’re not eating or partying, be sure to check out all of the beautifully intricate churches and cathedrals, like Nossa Senhora do Carmo and São Bento.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

For those that love the beauty of the outdoors, Argentina will be a treat on everyone’s eyes. Stay in the hip Las Cañitas district to be close to all of the action, or use the city as a jumping off point to adventures around Argentina.

For the hiking inclined, head to Glacier Perito Moreno in the Patagonia region for glacier trekking. El Chaltén is an excellent spot for rock climbing enthusiasts, with options for any skill level. Or, if you just want to exist in the beautiful nature, snag a camping site in Nahuel Huapi National Park and connect with your group under the glistening night stars.

No matter your adventure of choice, you’ll find it in Argentina! But before you go, you MUST stop by Iguazú Falls. It will take your breath away.

Europe

Copenhagen, Denmark

The foodies get La Boqueria food market & the tapas scene. Party gals can head to Plaça Reial where the nightlife is worthy. Adventurers have plenty of water and walking activities. Reykjavik, Iceland

Iceland is an entire destination on its own, but exploring with your best people will absolutely go down for the history books! You can certainly explore Iceland the good ol’ road trip way, but for a more relaxed trip, base yourself in the capital, Reykjavik.

While a bit on the pricier side, the food in Iceland is incredible, and every meal will be a new experience for your group! Take a walking tour of Reykjavik, or done penis hats for a trip to the Icelandic Phallological Museum to the world’s largest display of penises and penile parts. And the local bar and beer scene will have you up well past the midnight sun!

Africa and the Middle East

The Motherland is calling! With so many incredible countries to choose from (over 60!!), we’ve narrowed the list down to countries that are relatively “easy” to travel to. By that, I mean easy in terms of flight options and accessibility. Western countries colonized and exploited this area of the world (along with others), so be mindful of your frustrations. They are recovering countries.

Nairobi, Kenya

Nairobi is definitely (one of the party) capitals in Africa, so if you’re looking to take the bride into as many bars and clubs as possible, you’ve come to the right place.

Nairobi does not slow down for anyone though, so after all the clubbing you might want to take the group for a day of relaxation. Get a massage or full spa treatment in one of the outstanding massage spas in Nairobi.

Of course, Nairobi does not only consist of indoor activities, and you’d definitely miss out if you don’t explore more of the capital. Going on a safari is an amazing activity to do with a group of friends. You don’t even have to leave the capital for it, Nairobi National Park is perfect to explore as a day trip. You can hire a car with or without driver and if you’re lucky, spot the Big Five.

Nairobi is also home to a few forests that offer scenic hikes and picnic spots. Karura Forest and Oloolua Forest are definitely some of the best places to spend an afternoon. Bring some food and drinks and spend an afternoon in nature, surrounded by small wildlife.

Dubai, UAE

Dubai scream luxury destination, but it can also be done well on a tighter budget as well! That’s right, you can have your elegant cake AND EAT IT TOO.

Getting around Dubai is pretty straightforward, and renting a car is easy as well! Put on your favorite sundress (or shorts!) and head to the Dubai Miracle Garden for beautiful group pictures! Then make reservations for your bachelorette high tea at the tallest restaurant in the world!

There are plenty of shopping opportunities, from the high end brands to local Emirati boutiques. To really wind down, rent a day bed at the beach and enjoy the Arabian sun.

And, lucky for the ladies, Dubai establishments are very generous with their Ladies Night deals! You can find at least one lounge, bar, or nightclub offering Ladies Night specials every day of the week! Just don’t let your hangover make you oversleep the city’s famous Friday brunches!

Asia and Oceania

Asia is always a guaranteed good time, especially for bachelorette parties! Beautiful beaches, delicous food, and hype parties. What’s not to love? Just be sure to pack some sunscreen because the sun intensity does NOT joke around!

Koh Samui, Thailand

New Zealand

Rotorua is located in the Central North Island of New Zealand. It is the perfect location for girls who want a luxurious place to relax, mixed with some adventure activities.  Rotorua is a geothermal area, so no matter where you go, you will find pockets of bubbling waters and mud.  I do have to warn you that the town does smell a little sulphuric, but your skin will feel incredible after a visit.

Those after some luxury can head to Hells Gate Geothermal Spa.  You can bathe in the bubbling mud, which will heal and soothe your skin, or get a unique full body massage using traditional Maori techniques.  Or for a free option, head to Kerosene Creek, a hot waterfall spring right in the middle of the forest.

Adventurous ladies will have a ball with adrenalin-filled fun such as rafting the highest commercially rafted waterfalls in the world, ziplining through the Redwoods Forest, or kayaking to find glow worms at night. Or you more subdued fun, spend the evening at the Treewalk Rotorua where you walked upon suspended bridges lit up by designer David Trubridge lanterns.

Whether its high octane fun or a pamper session you’re after, Rotorua is one of the best bachelorette party destinations.

Colombo Sri Lanka

Colombo is a vibrant capital city and offers great value-for-money hotels, amazing day trips and access to white pristine beaches (including turtles)! Most tourists will arrive in Colombo before heading off to an exotic resort by the beach or a national park to meet elephants.
