Circus Circus as an Adult

You’ve decided to have the literally TIME OF YOUR LIFE and take a trip to Vegas, woohooo the first step is done! Now that you’re going to Vegas, where do you stay? Of course, there are tons of amazing places off of the strip, and I am usually always the first to vouch for an airbnb, but Vegas is definitely a hotel atmosphere to me. Not only does someone else make your bed for you (the best perk), but a lot of the hotels are themed and have fun quirks about them to explore. Plus, if the hotel is on the strip, you’re right in the middle of the action!

The hotel my family always chose for family vacations was Circus Circus. For obvious children-oriented reasons, Circus Circus was always the perfect hotel for us: there is an indoor amusement park, tons of cheap kid friendly food options, and fun bright colors. Very kid catered. Also, the rooms are generally less than $25. Life is already expensive enough with kids, why make it more expensive by staying at a luxury hotel with bedsheets the kids might pee in anyway.

But what if you don’t have kids and you just want to save money on lodging ?

Don’t worry, Circus Circus can still be a great option for you! I’ll start with the pros, since I’m such a wonderfully positive person.

PROS

  1. It’s cheap : Really, it doesn’t get too much better than that. The price is the main attraction. Save all your money on lodging and spend it towards gambling, drinking, bar crawls, indoor skydiving, splurge shopping…you know, all that expensive stuff you can do in Vegas.
  2. It’s on the strip : Although it’s not in the dead center, it is on the strip. There are a few hotels that are close by. One, I even walked from Circus Circus to the Cosmo in heels (not recommended), and there are a ton of cabs if you don’t have a car. PLUSSS….
  3. Bus stop right outside the hotel : Yes, there’s a bus stop right outside of Circus Circus, you can get a 3-day pass for $20 and it runs 24/7, pretty frequently. The bus also announces stops, if you were unsure of where you wanted to get off. So really, the distance wasn’t a problem because I always had a way to get around town, sober or not. I’ve never had any problems on the bus.
  4. Cheap food options : The restaurants aren’t fancy, but they’re easy on the wallet. Honestly, they’re nothing to write home about, BUT I do have one recommendation. The only restaurant in Circus Circus that I would ever eat at again. The Deli. They seriously have a sandwich that is big enough to feed two people and it’s like, $7.
  5. There’s an arcade : Hey, who doesn’t love a good arcade? There’s some pretty fun games, and you can win stuff. It’s cheap entertainment, though you do sometimes have to fight off kids to play Deal or No Deal.
  6. Free circus show every day : THERE’S A FREE CIRCUS ACT every day. EVERY DAY. I mean, it’s no Cirque Du Soleil, but it’s a fun show! Starting at 11am, there’s a ten minute show about every half hour until midnight.
  7. Free gambling lessons : If you know nothing about gambling, like me, then this is a perfect place to learn. They have lessons for Blackjack, Roulette (my new fav and also the fastest way to lose $40 in my experience), Craps, and Slots Lessons every day at the main casino pit. Just look up what time for whatever lesson you would like.

CONS

  1. It’s cheap : You get what you pay for. It’s nothing fancy, just your basic hotel bedroom. I’ve never had any problems with cleanliness though!
  2. Not in the center of the strip : Yeahh, it’s not too close to some of the more exciting hotels and attractions, but like I said before, there’s a bus stop right outside so it’s not that big on an issue to me.
  3. There’s kids : If the mere thought of children being in a 5 mile radius of you at any time makes you want to hurl, then mayyybe this isn’t the place for you. There is a higher concentration of kids here, but really, unless you’re gonna stay cooped up in the hotel for your entire trip, they aren’t that big of an issue.
  4. Pool situation : The pool here sucks. There’s no real way to spin this one. It’s small and unexciting. But hey, there are plenty of other pools in Vegas!
  5. No club : There is also no club, boo hoo. Again, get a hookup with a club promoter though, and you’re good to go.
  6. Not the best food : I would not recommend really any of the restaurants besides “ey, it’s okay” (with the exception of the deli yaas)

All in all, I feel like the pros outweigh the cons, but hey, I’m just broke homie tryin to make it out here. It’s not that bad honestly, and even though I’m making more money now, I really can’t see myself splurging on a fancier hotel when I won’t spend as much time in it anyway. $ave Dat Money, honey.

Have you guys every been to Vegas? What’s your favorite hotel on the strip??
