Hotel Ändra : Boutique Hotel in Downtown Seattle

where to stay in seattle

This past fall, I paid a visit to the Emerald City to meet up one of my favorite Canadians – my pal Cate from A Lady and Her Luggage. I had been to Seattle a few times before, but there’s so much of Seattle I still hadn’t explored, and every experience is different with different people!

Since I was driving ALL THE WAY from Portland (and I guess Cate’s 10 hour drive from Endmington, AB was a little long too), our main concern for lodging was : C O M F O R T.

That’s how we landed on staying at Hotel Ändra.

Not only did it look cozy and plush, but it was also EXTREMELY central to everything in downtown Seattle, and it was surrounded by restaurants.

We booked a room immediately.

Cate arrived at the hotel first, so all credit for this amazing photos of the room and hotel are all her! Once I arrived, I came in like a wrecking ball and destroyed the place with all of my clutter.

The Room

Check in, as told by Cate, was a total breeze and they were super welcoming and helpful as she made her way upstairs. When I showed up, they were equally as friendly and warm, holding doors open for me and everything.

A picture speaks a thousand words, so I’ll let the room do the talking here!

So much beautiful natural lighting! The room overlooked the main street, but it was surprisingly quiet inside!
A desk with plenty of room! Yanno, so I can pretend to be productive

The room was very comfortable, and had a HUGE walk in closet! Like, bigger than my closet I have at home! But of course, we all know the real deal breaker is THE BATHROOM. So let’s take a look.

The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, and had a long bar (not pictured) so you can set up your entire 10-step Korean beauty product routine and still have room for 27 different hair conditioners. The water got hot fast, a must for me, and the shower was easy to figure out!

Don’t laugh at me. Showers can be difficult, okay?

The rest of the hotel was equally as beautiful, especially the lobby, or as they lovingly (and appropriately) call it : the living room

A warm fire and plenty of comfortable seats!

The Food

We ate a few different places near Hotel Ändra, and the majority of them were seconds away! We first ate at Lola, the restaurant right at the bottom of the hotel. If I were a food critic, I would call it modern-Mediterranean. But also, I’m not a food critic, so idk if that’s what it actually is hahaha. It was good though! And the atmosphere was cozy elegance (again, I’m making up descriptions here), but it didn’t feel formal. The food was good though!

Not pictured – the amazing grape leaves I had!! yummmm

There’s also a cooking school upstairs (!!!) and also a bakery across the street! All three establishments are run by Tom Douglas, an INSANELY talented Seattle-based chef.

Delicious bakery, ft. 2kool4skool man in sunglasses.

We also had a taste of the room service for breakfast! Amazing granola, and super tasty sausage! The fruit was all sweet and good scones too! Again – not a food critic haha. I liked it! I also spilled crumbs on the bed. I’d personally recommend using the desk.

I forgot to ask for jam for my toastttt *cry*

Oh, and also, there’s Din Tai Fung nearby. If the proximity to amazing food is not reason enough to stay at Hotel Ändra, I don’t know what is.

The Fun

As I said before, Hotel Ändra is super central to downtown Seattle. That means it’s walkable to all the major/famous attractions!

WHICH IS GOOD BECAUSE – there’s no free parking at Hotel Ändra. *cry emoji* If I had to dock one thing from this otherwise perfect hotel, it would be the parking. Since I drove, I had no other choice than to pay for parking. There’s a valet option, a parking garage one street away, and an open parking lot behind the building. All of them require paid parking, and I listed them in decreasing order of cost.

Oh, and there is paid street parking, but on Sunday it’s free!

If you don’t have a car, YOU’RE IN LUCK! The major attractions are all within a 30 minute walk, but most are under 10 minutes away! Uber is also readily available to whisk you away to any locations that might be a bit farther. Or yanno, if you don’t want to walk.

walking views – check!

Some of these super awesome attractions are the Iconic Space Needle, the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum, Pike Place Market, the waterfront, and tons of shopping options! You can even get to my least favorite Seattle attraction – the infamous gum wall.

Basically anything you’d want to do in Seattle, Hotel Ändra has you covered.

So what are you waiting for? Go book yourself a hotel room and enjoy yoself in Seattle! Here’s the hotel’s page!

Thank you Hotel Ändra for hosting us on our trip! That said, my opinions are completely unbiased. IF THEY WANNA PAY ME TO CHANGE MY OPINION THOOO…..hahaha I’m joking, I’m joking haha.

I do hope you enjoy your stay! It’s has a great location, comfortable amenities, and tasty food nearby. Leave you car at home though. (or find free street parking outside of downtown and then just uber to/from your car – guilty, lolololol)
