Latinx Travel Bloggers to Inspire You to See the World

I grew up in Los Angeles, surrounded by different cultures, languages, and people. I was in a bilingual preschool, even though I forgot everything, and there was always a cultural holiday every week of the year. So as I started my travel journey, and eventually began blogging, I noticed a STARKK piece of the puzzle missing. Where were all the Latinx travel bloggers??

Surely, I must be missing something, right? But as I frantically searched through featured blogger lists and sponsored posts from companies, it only confirmed what I had seen. Or rather, not seen. Zero Latinx travel bloggers.

Pero like…um, WHY?

But…why??? That’s the thing I didn’t understand. The Hispanic and Latinx demographic is the fastest growing demographic in the United States. In the United States alone, Hispanic and Latinx travel brings in more than $56 billion in leisure travel EVERY YEAR.

The Hispanic and Latinx community travels in larger groups, with 31% traveling in a group of four or more people – more than the average of other demographics at 25%. The Latinx community also, on average, spend more per trip than the general population AND are more likely to travel with children.

SO WHERE’S THE RELATABLE MARKETING???

Rather than speculate on an answer we can all probably guess, I’m just going to cut to the chase. Latinx travel bloggers are noticeably unrecognized in the travel community.

Every once in a while, I will spot one on the “speakers” list at a travel conference, but they are always confined to the “diversity in travel” panel and they are also almost always a white or white-passing Latinx.

No disrespect to white Latinx, but like come on y’all! THERE IS MORE THAN ONE SHAPE, SIZE, COLOR, AND CURL PATTERN IN THE LATINX COMMUNITY!!

We all deserve to see ourselves represented, especially in travel. This is not an end-all-be-all list, but it is a list of Latinx travel bloggers that I personally follow and have an actual solid connection with – they’re not just a bunch of random names I threw together. Plus, I asked them all what their favorite tv series were so you could PROPERLY connect yourself to your new travel soulmate. So I hope you enjoy everyone aannndd without further ado, here are some awesome Latinx travel bloggers to diversify your travel game!

Taima from Poor in a Private Plane

hispanic travel bloggers
instagram: @poorinaprivateplane

Taima is my travel inspiration, tbh. She works a full time job (like me!), and even with bills to pay and errands to run, she manages to prioritize travel and weave it into her routine! In her words, she “travels luxuriously for less,” and that’s a gravy train that I want to swim in. Taima also has excellent tips for budgeting and saving money while traveling!

Ana from Chasing Wild Gusts

instagram: @chasingwildgusts

A lover of all things outdoors and adventure-y, Ana is a spark of inspiration for those wanting to dive headfirst into nature. While her blog posts definitely read exciting, Ana also has fabulous youtube videos of all of her adventures! What’s more, I appreciate that she is always thoughtful and considerate while traveling, and even while engaging on social media!

Demi from Color Me Wanderlust

Talk about a breath of fresh air, good vibes, and colorful adventures! Demi is a fun-loving carefree kind of traveler, skipping around the world in search of the next unforgettable memory! She works hard and laughs harder. Demi travels for herself and her own fulfillment, and shares her learnings on her blog, as well as fantastic tips on how to easily make travel more routine in your life!

favorite tv series: Game of Thrones

my favorite post by them: Mini-guide to Island Hopping in Belize

Karla from Karla Tomaselli

instagram: @karlatomaselli

Karla was one of the first travel bloggers I followed on instagram, and I always so grateful I came across her page. One thing that I really appreciate about Karla’s blog posts is that she is so transparent in how much she budgets and the costs of her trips – she includes prices in the posts!! Although she currently lives abroad, she is not a full-time traveler, and gives great advice on how to see the most with the least amount of time off.

favorite tv series: Rubi

my favorite post by them: Beating the Crowds in Petra

Taryn from Her Travel Style

latinx travel bloggers to follow

There’s nothing stopping Taryn. From the salt plains in Bolivia to the safaris in Botswana, to the lagoons in Thailand, to climbing mountains in Canada island hopping in Greece, to temples in India, OR EVENT TO ANT-FREAKING-ARCTICA…Taryn is on the move. One of my favorite things about Taryn is that she fully immerses herself when she travels, and tries to see a place from more than one perspective. She doesn’t “check it and forget it,” and frequently revisits her favorite places because there is always something new to learn. Plus, along with her amazing travel guides, her travel stories about her wild adventures are…WILD.

Oliviaaaa, my sweet and talented twin. Everyone – she’s a gem. Olivia is a city girl bringing us ALL back to the great outdoors, and turning up the diversity while she’s at it! Olivia is a champion for inclusion, and also knows how to turn up at a party! She’s down to earth, witty, transparent, creative, and an overall fantastic human. Life isn’t always on the up and up, but sometimes even taking a nice stroll outside can make you feel better – even just for a second. I thank Olivia for reminding me of that.

Lola from Miss Filatelista

latinx travel bloggers
instagram: @missfilatelista

Accomplished travel writer and founder of LatinasLoveTravel on instagram, Lola is an inspiration. Personally, Lola has made me want to be a better traveler. No, not in the sense that I can score the best deals or see the most countries in x-amount of time. Lola makes me want to be a better global citizen. One of Lola’s main pillars on her blog is sustainable and ethical travel – and if you don’t know what that is, don’t worry, there is no judgment and she breaks it down for you step by step!

But basically travel is a luxury and a privilege, and no matter where you visit, you should try to leave a positive impact on the people, economy, and environment…or at least not make it worse! She has tons of guides and tips on how to travel more responsibly, and how to shift your thinking to be more ethically conscious, and you can spend hours reading each and every one. Once you know better, DO BETTER.

favorite tv series: Orange Is the New Black

my favorite post by them: What exactly IS Responsible Travel?

Joella from Roving Jo

rovingjo travel blogger
instagram: @rovingjo

Jo is such an authentically refreshing person. There is no brand persona she needs to portray 24/7. There is no underlying agenda. Jo is just Jo, and Jo travels. Jo works a full-time non-remote job AND takes care of her family, so her travels are relatable and she keeps everything down to Earth. I’ve even featured her on my Traveling with a Full-Time Job post because she gives great tips on how to incorporate travel into your life when it seems like there just isn’t enough time.

favorite tv series: Outlander

my favorite post by them: How to Save for Your Dream Vacation

Olga from Dreams in Heels

latinas who travel
instagram: @dreamsinheels

Yes, she puts the madre in desmadre comadre, and her blog has transformed to reflect that! She offers tips on everything from traveling (and partying!) while pregnant to handling a baby abroad. And you are welcome to come along for the ride! Also – I JUST LOVE HER. She is a complete SWEETHEART in real life, seriously, she’s a real one. She encourages a judgment-free environment because traveling -and motherhood- are always a work in progress.

Jess from Endless Itinerary

Jeanine from Le Wild Explorer

latinx travel bloggers on instagram
instagram: @lewildexplorer

Jeanine is a GODDESS!!!! And I’m not just saying that because she’s from Los Angeles. But also, that’s how you know she’s incredible. Whether you find her in hiking boots or find her in a bikini (or both at the same time), you know she’s off on a wild outdoor adventure! Her “Get Up and Go Outside” attitude is what drew me in, but her bright and fun spirit hit me right in the feels. Her blog makes me want to push myself, it’s infectious, and I love it. OH AND ALSO SHE HAS A BOMB PODCAST THAT ALL OF YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO RIGHT NOW – OhMyTravelPodcast (they have an instagram page too!)

favorite tv series: Friends and The Walking Dead

my favorite post by them: Roadtrippin’ Through Utah’s National Parks

America from Americatru

instagram: @americatru

I absolutely love everything about this girl!! America is such a personality. She’s fun, hilarious, and doesn’t take herself too seriously, which is refreshing in the travel blogger community. America is a single mom who built her own dance company from the ground up, and is San Antonio’s BEST BELLY DANCER. And that’s not just me saying that, she has LITERALLY won awards. Her stories are uncensored, honest, and relatable. Plus, her Youtube Channel features all the best moments from her travels!

Stephanie from Wanderlust Beauty Dreams

instagram: @wanderlustbeautydreams

Stephanie is all about following her dreams. As a first-gen kid, she breaks down barriers, speaks up for inclusion, creates her own seat at the table, and also never compromises her beliefs. Stephanie has been traveling all of her life, and even for her quinceañera, she chose a vacation instead of a traditional party. A huge advocate for solo travel, Stephanie began travel blogging when she realized that Latina travelers were hardly recognized in the travel community, let alone as travel experts or speakers at conferences. She’s here to encourage women to travel, and she’s not staying silent about it. Stephanie creates vlogs in both English and Spanish and is the creator of WanderlustSuenos on Instagram!

favorite tv series: Casa de Papel (Money Heist)

Erika from Mochila Monkeys

Erika is a full-time traveler with the love of her life, Marco, but traveling has always been a passion she held dear. Erika writes in both English and Spanish, and wants to inspire other young women to see the world with their own eyes. She also strives to help bridge the language gap between Spanish speakers and the mainstream travel community.

Cata from The Walrus in the Room

instagram: @cata.thewalrus

Always authentically true to herself, Cata is on a journey of self-love, self-appreciation, and finding balance in her life. If that’s not the most relatable sentence of the century, I don’t know what is. Cata’s blog reads like a fun diary, as she documents the different ways and tips she is reshaping her life to grow into a more well rounded and better version of herself. It’s inspiring, it’s fun, it’s VERY honest, and it’s a journey you’ll want to take yourself!

Val from Waves of Travel

instagram: @wavesoftravel

Val is a slow traveler, taking her time to fully immerse herself into the culture and places she visits. AND, since she is a digital nomad, she has plenty of time to do that! Val travels out of a backpack, but that doesn’t stop her from experiencing each destination to the fullest. She showcases travel in an honest light, from the highest highs down to the lowest lows, where many bloggers dare not tread.

Gerry also leads group travel tours and excursions in the Dominican Republic, and she works with local Dominican small business owners to pay them a fair wage to maintain ethical business practices. Gerry also does travel planning and itinerary building, along with a variety of freelance services like consultations and social media management.

Belle and Vic from The Xpat Family

instagram: @thexpatfamily

SOMEBODY GIVE THIS FAMILY THEIR OWN TRAVEL SHOW!!! Belle and Vic are family travelers through and through, but before that, they were two people with a passion for travel. They are full-time digital nomads, and in between flights and trains and buses around the world, they are teaching their daughters to be open and understanding to different cultures and people, and to respect each destination as if it were their own. Their Youtube channel is absolutely adorable, and it’s so inspiring watching their journey!

favorite tv series: Lucifer

Lindsey from Seven Day Weekender

Lindsey is an absolute doll. BUT THAT SAID – SHE ALSO ABANDONED ME IN PORTLAND ALL BY MYSELF SO SHE COULD GO LIVE HER BEST LIFE IN DC. I don’t blame her, but I am still DEEPLY offended. So with that in mind, in my most unbiased opinion, Lindsey has incredibly original content that explores destinations both afar, and right in her own backyard. She has a talent of making even the most ordinary seem new and exciting!

favorite tv series: Bones

Jessica from My Curly Adventures

I just want to start this off by saying JESSICA SAVED MY LIFEEE IN TEXAS. Seriously, there’s nothing I appreciate more than a travel blogger who knows their home like the back of their hand. Wynee from Wynee’s World

Last, but literally the furthest things from least, is Wynee. I love travel, I love food, and I love keeping it real – all things that Wynee does very VERY well. She’s a blast in her travels, and that same energy and enthusiasm transfers to her blog posts and videos. I appreciate that Wynee is always honest and upfront with the reality of travel, and won’t hesitate to say a restaurant or hotel is trash, because ain’t nobody got time to waste on vacation just because other travel bloggers are too “nice” to give honest feedback. Wynee has your back!! Plus, Wynee makes a trip to the grocery store look like an adventure and I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT.
