Call me late, but I didn’t know who Bad Bunny was until late 2022. I listened to music in Spanish, especially from Puerto Rico (Ozuna is one of my favorite artists), but admittedly when my boyfriend kept blasting the SAME FREAKING ALBUM nonstop since May 6th, 2022, I had to ask. Who is Bad Bunny???? To answer the question, we watched his music videos as they popped up on YouTube. Many of his visuals seemed to be shot from the same beach, which would later be called Bad Bunny Beach.

As soon as the concert dates dropped, my boyfriend bought us tickets (concert AND plane!! Look at me getting flewed out). I’m a singer at concerts (yeah yeah, I’m that person sorry), so I had to learn the songs quick! I immersed myself in all things Bad Bunny so I could learn at least some of the words, which included watching tons of lyric videos because I am not fluent in Spanish.

Yes, I will sing at a concert even if I don’t speak the language.

I’m THAT person. Sorry.

So I saw a LOT of videos surrounding Bad Bunny beach, and…even if I’m not usually a beach person, I had to admit. The beach looked NICE. I wanna grab some friends and hang out tooo…..

But, I’m getting ahead of myself.

The Un Verano Sin Ti concert was electric. Actually, that’s an understatement. The entire city was a sparkplug. The crowd was at 110%, even the security team danced when they thought no one was watching. And I gotta give it to him, Bad Bunny can perform. 11/10, I had an unforgettable time!

So, of course, when we learned Bad Bunny was headlining for Coachella 2023…yeah, we went to that too. AGAIN, his set was amazing. We were about two rows from the front and the energy from the crowd was insane. It was incredible to hear literally thousands of people (again) singing in Spanish (and pseudo Spanish – sorry). He was the FIRST Latine headliner at Coachella, and he gave us a SHOW!

So then…of course…not even two months after Coachella…..

No, I’m just kidding. We didn’t see him again.

But! I was attending the WITS Travel Creator Summit which just so happened to be hosted in none other than the island of Puerto Rico. Since it was a destination neither of us had been to, we both decided to visit the island! Since the conference was in San Juan and took up 4/9 days I was in Puerto Rico, I didn’t get to leave the city too much. However, we did reserve one day to head to the west side of the island to look for Bad Bunny Beach.

It was…not as straightforward to find as I thought, so if you are also looking for the music video filming locations of Un Verano Sin Ti, keep reading!

Where is Bad Bunny Beach

It’s not in San Juan, I’ll tell ya that.

Bad Bunny Beach is actually called Balneario de Añasco, or Playa Añasco. I’ve heard both used. Basically, it’s the beach in Añasco, a small town on the west side of the island with only about 26,000 (ish) residents. Very small – so yeah, if I were filming a music video, I’d also probably pick a less frequented spot with little foot traffic.

You can also find Bad Bunny Beach by searching for “Bunny Spot” on Google Maps, though the directions for those coordinates are less straightforward (more on that later).

Bad Bunny Beach is about 2.5hrs away from Old San Juan, but you might want to budget for about 3 hours. Though if driving six hours in one day is a bit much for you, it can (and potential should) turn into an overnight excursion! Sadly, we didn’t enough time to stay longer, but when I go back to Puerto Rico, I’m definitely spending at least a few days on this side of the island!

Vega Baja

We had a rental car for the duration of our trip in Puerto Rico, so after a quick breakfast we set out in the morning around 9am to head to Añasco! On the way, we passed a lot of beautiful roadside beaches, and if we weren’t already headed to Bad Bunny Beach, we would have stopped to enjoy the calm morning water. We also passed a sign for OZUNAAAAA, which was fun for me haha.

Sidenote…is there an Ozuna Beach??? I want to find that one next!

Anyways, we drove for about hour to Vega Baja, our first pitstop. It is the hometown of Bad Bunny, aka Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio. Considering it’s also a small town…I wasn’t really sure what to expect. Which was for the best. It is a small town, there isn’t much. After we filled up our gas tank, we did a little bit of walking around, but it was a random Tuesday and there weren’t too many people out and about.

We did, however, swing by Vega Baja’s Econo, which is where Bad Bunny worked before going full time as a music artist. Again…it was just a grocery store. It isn’t a “touristy” town, but the beaches did look very nice, so if you happen to stop there and have the time, let me know how they are!

Where to Park

Alright, depending on what location you put into your GPS system, there will be a few different parking options at Bad Bunny Beach.

If you put in Balneario de Añasco (which I recommend), it will lead you to the main beach area where the parking is easy and straightforward. Parking is free and plentiful!

However, if you put “Bunny Spot” into your GPS like I did, then you will be led down a VERY strange and unmarked road with random unmarked buildings. It’s confusing. You’re going to be doubting yourself. That’s….expected. Which is why I recommend the other directions, but some of us like to play life on hard mode, I get it. If you choose this route, as long as you’re heading toward the police station (“FURA Maritima Añasco“), you’re going the right way. In fact, put FURA Maritima Añasco in your GPS instead.

However you CANNOT park at the police station. Because…it is a police station. We accidentally parked our car there, but thankfully the officer was super nice about it and just asked us to move a bit down the road. He said we could park anywhere on the side of the road as long as we weren’t blocking it. So technically the parking was also free that way, but…yanno just less straightforward.

How to Get to Bad Bunny Beach

You know how I said each route has its pros and cons? Well the con of choosing the Bunny Spot/FURA Maritima Añasco is obvious, it’s confusing. BUT THE PRO is that it leads you straight to Bad Bunny Beach! Or rather, the section where the music video was shot.

Once you park on the side of the street, walk back towards the police station and you’ll see a path to your left. Follow that and it’ll take you right to Bad Bunny Beach. Though…just note that yes it is as lush as it looks…and all the fun potential critters that might come with that.

Watch out for iguanas crossing.

While this is technically the path, since we had already interacted with the police officer, before he sent us out to park he did say we could come back and walk through the police station parking lot which opens out straight to the beach! I wouldn’t recommend doing that from the get-go though. We chatted a bit with the officer, at first a little embarrassed that we drove all the way over to fangirl over a scene from a music video, but he was genuinely pleased to have visitors.

San Juan is both the most populated area of the island, and also where most of the tourism is concentrated, so he was excited that we went out of our way (literally lol) to see the west side of the island. He told us that on our next visit “because there WILL be a next,” to spend it on the west side, where the warmer is warmer and the sunsets are more beautiful.

His words, not mine.

And then we stepped onto the sand. IMMEDIATELY to our left was the scene from the Un Verano Sin Ti videos.

We had arrived.

As you walk along the shore, you’ll come across a few decorated pieces and a fragile swing, but mostly it’s just a nice calm beach. There used to be more items, but after the last hurricane, much of it was washed away. After spotting a few recognizable pieces, the last thing on the agenda is to just relax and enjoy the view.

Maybe even play Un Verano Sin Ti and act out your own music video! Just…yanno…be respectful if others are in the area!

If you park at the Balneario de Añasco location, it opens out into a larger beach, and personally where I would prefer to sit. BUT to see the “Bad Bunny Beach” area from here, when you’re heading towards the beach, take a right. You can either follow the path on land through the trees (you will have to cross a mini raised walking platform), or you can walk along the beach.

Regardless of where you park, you’ll get there!

Super Secret Hidden Area

Now I mentioned that a lot of the decorations (if you’ve seen older youtube videos and/or TikToks) are gone from Bad Bunny beach because of a hurricane. But!! Not all of the decor pieces were doomed to being swept away to sea.

A few of the items were saved and transferred to a safer and more permanent spot only a short 5-10 minute walk from its previous location at Bad Bunny beach. In the larger beach area, you might notice some folks camping.

The campsite is called “Tres Hermanos Camping,” and there you will find two of the iconic Bad Bunny heart-man signs. As the unofficial mascot of Bad Bunny, “The Hottest Heart” is super cute to take pictures with and remember your time at Bad Bunny beach and Puerto Rico!

Conclusion: Bad Bunny Beach

And there you have it! The complete guide to finding Bad Bunny beach in Puerto Rico, or simply – Playa Añasco. Hopefully it will help you in your own quest, but if not…well…idk what to tell ya hahah. I do want to point out that there are no onsite facilities (restrooms, kiosks, etc) at the beach, so take care of your business beforehand and pack snacks!
